Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT)

There have been a number of important changes and updates to the Data Security and Protection Toolkit for 2020/21 that you need to be aware of;

  1. Extension of Fast-Track access to NHSmail for Social Care Providers has been EXTENDED to 30th June 2021

  2. NHSmail FAST-TRACK: how to register

  3. Approaching Standards: this is the replacement for Entry Level
    It will be introduced on 20th February 2021 following the removal of Entry Level.

    Approaching Standards = Entry Level + additional requirements a plan to do the rest of the evidence items to Standards Met. It is step up from Entry Level but supports the move towards Standards Met for all providers. Approaching Standards will replace Entry Level as the required level to receive NHS Mail once waiver is removed.

  4. Layout and Wording: in February 2021 a number of other changes are planned including;

    • Updated wording
    • Updated guidance, and videos
    • Updated screen layout for social care
    • The new layout will show all Standards Met mandatory evidence items split into four sections.

Q: If a provider has published Entry Level this year, will their published status remain as Entry Level or will it downgrade to Standards Not Met?
A: The last publication status would be unchanged. It would be Entry level in this instance.

Q: Will there be a gap between Entry Level and Approaching Standards?
A: No Gap – Approaching Standards will replace entry level.

Q: Will there be launch comms to social care providers?
A: Yes, each administrator of a social care toolkit and all demo system users will receive an email.
