Day One: Thursday 20th June 2019.
Day Two: Friday 21st June 2019.
Both days will run from 9.30am until 4.30pm.
You must be able to attend the full 2 days to comply with learning hours requirements. However, i

Train the Trainer Moving & Assisting

Train the Trainer is a dynamic course designed to give you a thorough insight into the skills needed to deliver that training whether you are already delivering it or moving into a new role. The course covers many aspects of the Award of Education and Training (formerly PTLLS) including designing lesson plans, evaluating your training, examples of ice-breakers and varied styles of assessment. This course is designed to offer all candidates a full day on Moving and Assisting People. It is suitable for all those entering the Care Industry, including those who have no previous knowledge of the subject. Certificates of Training are valid for 3 years (CQC recommends refresher courses once a year).

Learning Outcomes Day One (Train the Trainer):

At the end of the first day you will be able to:
  • Devise effective Learning Outcomes for sessions
  • Design Lesson Plans
  • Explain and address participants’ varied learning styles: Honey and Mumford and VARK
  • Structure effective presentations/ training
  • Explain the  purpose and value of ice-breakers – and use them appropriately
  • Assess participants’ learning
  • Explain and undertake evaluation of sessions
  • List some top tips for trainers

Learning Outcomes Day Two (Moving & Assisting):
At the end of the first day you will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of important and relevant legislation
  • Recognise the impact of back injury
  • Identify and apply the laws relating to manual handling
  • Understand the concept of risk assessment and its basis in law.
  • Gain knowledge of and understand the anatomy, injuries and the spine
  • Understand the principles of lifting and the importance of good posture
  • Recognising controversial moving and handling techniques
  • Identify and demonstrate techniques used to move people safely without equipment
  • Understand how to handle equipment and its use
  • Identify emergency techniques
  • Understand the theory of and demonstrate use of hoist and sling use
  • Demonstrate problem-solving theory and practice

and will cover subjects such as:

  • Introduction & Legislation
  • The impact of back injury
  • The laws relating to manual handling
  • The concept of risk assessment and its basis in law.
  • The anatomy, injuries and the spine
  • Principles of lifting and the importance of good posture
  • Recognising controversial moving and handling techniques
  • Techniques used to move people safely without equipment
  • Handling equipment and its use
  • Recommended emergency techniques
  • The theory of hoist and sling use
  • Problem-solving practical exercises
  • Bariatric care
  • Applied practical workstation & simulated practical assessment (including slings & hoist)

 

This course can be taken without a formal Training Qualification (such as PTLLS or AET) as you will receive a certificate of attendance covering all aspects of training others from the first day. However, the qualification gained at the end of the two days will only be valid in your current working environment and cannot be transferred.
