#TalkingCare and so much more

Talking Care Issue 2 cover

This autumn sees a major push by OACP to raise the profile of social care and promote the contribution of thousands of workers in Oxfordshire. The publication of our second issue of Talking Care, and preparation for our November conference, will be sizeable opportunities to showcase what social care offers.

Issue 2 of Talking Care, our bespoke magazine, aimed at raising the profile of social care amongst our communities, has been published today and can be found online alongside Issue 1. Aside from an excellent guide to care at home from Which?, we hear from the owner and manager of Caretree, a home care provider rated as outstanding – no mean feat in domiciliary care. Why did she prefer social care to the NHS?

Lynda Gardner, Managing Director of Oxford Aunts, speaks of her experience when the Care Quality Commission come knocking. And we hear about the benefits of looking after your ‘Hampstead Heath’ – teeth, to you and me, from the Community Dental Services run through Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.

We look at one of the larger care home providers in Oxfordshire, Sanctuary Care, and focus on the Mental Capacity Act, where leading solicitors Irwin Mitchell, provides expert advice on making decisions on another person’s behalf.

With fostering in the news, we discover why Shared Lives is such a rewarding way to support vulnerable adults.

Two articles about carers from Carers Oxfordshire and Alzheimer’s Society, round off our fabulous magazine. We hope you like it. We love it!

On 14 November, we will be holding our first Oxfordshire Care Awards. Designed to showcase the very special outcomes that social care delivers in its wide variety of settings across the County, it’s an invitation to anyone who has an interest in the sector locally. More information shortly.
