Social Care Workforce Planning Tool goes live

Social care employers across England have access to a new, free resource to help them plan and develop their workforce.

Oxfordshire County Council has worked in partnership with Skills for Care to develop the new workforce planning and development tool to help social care employers get to grips with the complexities of workforce planning.

The tool uses a simple ‘question and answer’ format to help employers explore the factors that affect workforce capacity and capability. It then sends a personalised email report to the employer, which includes recommendations for action and links to further resources and guidance.

The tool was originally developed by Oxfordshire County Council’s Organisational Development Officer Janet Leach, who worked closely with adult social care workforce lead Rachel Lawrence on a range of issues. Rachel and Janet shared the idea with Skills for Care, who secured an estimated £40,000 in funding from Department of Health to develop the concept and create the new tool.
