Overall wellbeing of England workforce increases

Work‑Related Quality of Life of the Adult Social Care Workforce (England, 2025)

Participants were asked 4 questions about their overall wellbeing, taken from the UK Measures of National Wellbeing used by ONS:

  • Life satisfaction
  • Happiness
  • Feelings of worthwhileness
  • Anxiety

Key points:

  • The sector has stabilised post‑COVID but remains fragile
  • Financial insecurity is the single biggest unresolved issue
  • Violence and harassment are endemic and significantly worse than in the NHS
  • Career development and supportive management strongly improve retention
  • Senior care workers and disabled staff have the lowest quality of life scores
  • Home care and personal assistant roles show the strongest quality‑of‑life indicators
